Time-domain Electromagnetic Field Distribution Calculation for Waveguide-Fed Resonant Cavities

Dear experts, I currently need to perform time-domain electromagnetic field calculations for a resonant cavity fed by a waveguide. However, unlike in frequency-domain calculations, I cannot directly apply a rectangular waveguide port excitation. Is there a suitable method to achieve equivalent excitation, so as to obtain results consistent with those of frequency-domain calculations?

There are a number of ways to do this. Here are two: (1) You can set one end of the waveguide as a scattering boundary condition and define an appropriate surface field distribution on it, along with a time-domain function. That will launch your wave just fine. (2) You could model a coax to waveguide adapter, and use a lumped coaxial port to drive your time domain function on the coax. Either way, the waveguide will exhibit dispersion as the wave propagates, so bear that in mind.
